The focus of my practice has always been family law and I pride myself in being able to assist clients during one of the most difficult and emotional times in their lives. My goal is to provide you zealous representation, while also guiding you through this challenging time. I handle all family law matters including: divorce, property division, support, custody and visitation matters, protective order hearings, and post-divorce modification issues. Our practice started with representing primarily men in matters of divorce. However, over time, it has morphed into simply ensuring that all good parents have the opportunity to keep being good parents.
Regardless of the issues, I make sure that my clients know all of the options available to them and that they understand how the legal system works to resolve those issues. I take pride in helping my clients think through their options and consider how their decisions will impact them and their families both now and in the future. I strive to connect with my clients on a personal level and provide them with a calming presence when handling their cases. I endeavor at all times to manage the case in such a way that reduces the financial and psychological impact of the divorce on the family. However, I will not just be your “yes” woman. A lawyer who always says “yes” or promises you any specific results is not doing you any favors. What I can promise is that I will frankly tell you what I think the reality of your situation is, and what I believe your best course of action to be.
Although I believe it is generally in a client’s best interest to resolve issues outside of court where they have more control over the outcome, I realize that some cases must be litigated. I frequently appear before judges in counties throughout Alabama in hearings and at trial, and that experience gives me the confidence and expertise I need to press my clients’ cases in court when that is necessary. I am a listed mediator in Alabama, which requires 40 hours of intense mediation training. Personally, my favorite cases are adoptions, where I get to put families together.
I hold a B.A. in political science and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Auburn University. I then sacrificed a bit of the Auburn spirit to get my law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law. I am passionate about giving back to the community, and have been honored to receive several awards, including Order of the Samaritan. I’ve also been fortunate enough to be a part of and active in several community organizations, including Rotary, Junior League of Montgomery, and Camp Rising Sun, a camp for children with cancer.
I was born and raised in Columbus, Mississippi, but have called Montgomery my home since 2014. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and my twin toddlers. I enjoy traveling whenever I have the chance, and have been fortunate enough to travel extensively around every continent except Antarctica. (One day!) I also enjoy boating on Lake Martin and arguing with my husband that Auburn is better than Alabama.
